The Hub is an optional reception launcher displayed on a tablet or screen before the portal. It presents a set of tappable cards — one per visitor type — under a configurable title and subtitle. The guest taps their card and is taken directly to the relevant portal, where they generate their credential.
A school might show cards for Parents, Students, and Guests. A hotel might show Conference Delegate and Hotel Guest. A co-working space might show Member and Day Pass. Each card links to a separate portal with its own SSID, group policy, and credential expiry configured for that visitor type.
Design principle
The Hub is an orientation surface, not a credential surface. The guest taps a card and is taken to their portal — the portal does the credential work. The Hub simply ensures every visitor type has a clear, unambiguous path from the moment they approach the screen.
The Hub is not required. Locations with a single visitor type go directly to that portal — no Hub needed. The Hub exists solely to give guests a clean, unambiguous path when more than one credential type is available at the same entrance.
| Sector | Visitor types | Hub value |
|---|---|---|
| Education | Parents, contractors, campus tours, supply staff | Each group gets appropriate access — same entrance, different credentials |
| Hospitality | Hotel guests, conference delegates, day visitors | Delegates get event-scoped access; hotel guests get residential access |
| Co-working | Members, day passes, meeting room guests | Members get full access; meeting guests get time-limited access |
| Corporate | Visitors, contractors | Visitor and contractor portals separated cleanly |
From Dashboard → Hubs, click New Hub. Hubs is a standalone top-level section in the dashboard navigation — alongside Dashboard, Portals, Branding, and Connected Clients. It is not nested inside portal settings.
The Hub editor contains three cards: Hub Details, Branding, and Buttons.
Hub URL format: https://meraki.quupass.cloud/hub/{tenant-id}/{slug}
The Hub inherits your account's branding defaults but can be overridden per Hub.
Each button on the Hub screen represents one visitor type and links to a portal. Buttons are fully configurable and can be reordered.
When Auto-return is enabled, the portal shows a countdown after a credential is generated and automatically redirects back to the Hub. This keeps unattended tablet deployments clean — the next guest always arrives at the Hub rather than a previous guest's expired credential screen.
The countdown duration is admin-configurable: 30 seconds, 1 minute, 2 minutes, 5 minutes, or 10 minutes, with a custom seconds input also available.
The Hub is a URL — no app, no install. Display it on any screen using a browser in kiosk/fullscreen mode. Recommended deployment:
Navigate to your Hub URL on the device. Use the browser's fullscreen mode (F11 on most devices) or enable kiosk mode in your device management platform.
Use guided access (iOS), kiosk mode (Android/Chrome OS), or a dedicated kiosk browser to prevent guests from navigating away.
Turn on Auto-return in the Hub branding settings so the screen resets automatically after each guest generates their credential.
